I have a 2002 Wagon that the cruise control and the steering wheel controls for the radio suddenly stopped working! I asked around at the dealership and they said that It is the clockspring.. Is this really what the issue is?

The clockspring is possible and maybe even provable, but from the information at hand nothing is certain. (clock spring is the first thing that came to my mind.

Fuses are easier to check! But I do agree. Pretty rare though.

curious what the clock spring is?, and where is it?
It is the device that connects the switches (like cruse control) etc that are on the steering wheel to maintain contact as you turn the steering wheel. You can only see if if you start taking shrouding off the steering wheel assembly.

My jetta wagon did this during work on an air conditioning problem. They were testing the fan control module as well as some other components and popped a fuse. Replaced fuse, functions returned.

I am thinking it has to be the clock spring but wouldnt the clock spring cause the airbag light to come on?
