just got my car back from 49 k service, have ched the oil and it seems to go over the top crank on the dipstick how serious is this, i says in the hand book on bo account must it be overfilled?
How far over? If it is a millimeter or two you are probably OK. If it is like 5 millimeters you should get some extracted. If it is much over 5 millimeters you should get the bloke who flooded it to come and extract it for you - and not run the engine until he does.xma55 said:it is over the 2nd crank on the dipstick,
Who is they? Is this a VW specialist that knows the oil requirements for PDs? Reading in these threads can give you reason to panic. Not just any good diesel oil will work in the PD. Look at threads here about cams and lifters - 2004 BEW Cam lifter failure report . Some have gone to the point of having oil that doesn't meet the VW 505.01 specification removed and replaced with the right stuff. This is a controversial topic. Also look at the sticky (at the top of the forum - "What oil do I use?" READ FIRST BEFORE ASKING [If my links don't work these are both is this Fuels & Lubricants forum]xma55 said:they did not use the 505.01 spec oil they used a 5/30 for vauuxhall diesel engines which they tell me is fine, i have read the threads on this forums and amd starting to panic
These links should shed some light on what need to be changed along with the TB:xma55 said:ok thanks for the confirm i think i will get the oil changed again , with the cambelt i will need to replace this soon, should the water pump be done aswell or not i hear conflicting stories in this.
