Like I said in my original message, this is my first and the only thing I have to compare it with is Mopar Nationals and thats like 20 so sorry that I think it is expensive.
Quite a bit different. A large portion (last I knew) of the $ was for Fred. How many banner ads do you see floating around the site? Bandwidth isn't free, even in Socialist Canada.

Its not for Fred personally - its for the servers and bandwidth... its what helps keep this online community so helpful and free!

I understand that now, but I came into the Volkswagon World blind and all this stuff is new to me.. so don't act like every event cost that much and I should already know why... All I am is a diesel mechanic from ohio, not a computer guru.

Easy does it. We're not picking on you... just letting you know. :)

I've been to 3 TDI Fests since 2001, and in my opinion, the event is well worth the money.

As far as registration goes, you're allowed to bring one guest for free. I'm not sure of the policy on children, but hopefully someone who knows will chime in.

If you both want to eat at the banquet, you will have to pay per person for that... no freebies there. (Again, not sure on the policy for children.)

As VeeDubTDI mentioned registration is for a member that wants to participate in the events. Spouses and kids are free to attend with the member, however they still need to pay for any meals they are present at.
Also as mentioned above all proceeds raised from this event and other items such as license plate frames go back into the website for bandwidth, servers, etc. Thanks for the support.

This will be my first TDIFest.

What usually goes down at these?
I see on the schedule Breakout sessions? For what? Wrenching/Modding?
Track1/Track2/Track3?

What should I expect? Let’s hear some previous experiences.

Later,
Pete

If I can only make it for one day, what's the best day to get a variety of events? Should I concentrate on Saturday or Sunday?
I will probably hit town late Friday, but will only have limited time here and there.

Saturday, unless you really really want to enter the Show & Shine. Check the agenda... there is a lot of cool stuff planned for Saturday.

My frickin car knows that I want to go to a GTG

   This is unfreaking believable-on my way home from work today-I thought something wasn't sounding right at around 3k rpms-I left car running while I was doing an errand and noticed oil dripping under passenger side back of engine.Next stop in town checked oil and it was down-added a quart-got home ok.Turbo sounds different-I peeked behind w/ mirror and the oil feed line connection to turbo is wet w/ oil-I'll have to check intercooler pipe tomorrow-I'm hoping it might just be line again-I have one on hand. When GMark held his GTG earlier this year-I was going to go,but my motor mount and CV shaft went kaput-I think it must be something w/ Ohio that my car doesn't want to go there anymore:( Unless it's a simple fix-no TDIFest for me:( :(

its actually a little over 106, due to the problems with checking not syncing on occasion with paypal and google

That isn't happening either-last weekend I let a guy test drive it-he hit brakes hard-then said the pedal wasn't feeling right-I noticed brake light on-brake line is now squirting fluid in rear(inside frame rail)-what to f else will happen to my vehicles this week??? Hope everyone has a good time at Fest-maybe I'll go to Wingfest in Buffalo this weekend instead.

Bad luck won't stop me from my First TDI fest

I have wanted to attend a TDI fest close to home. I figured an easy 2.5- 3.5 hrs at posted limits. The speed limit dropped to 55 and I could see a car in the median ahead(state Trooper) my V1 did not go off and the and the trooper stayed (5:00am.) The 4 deer 50 yards away didn't, The 4th one, a buck got my right front. Went back to trooper to get paperwork for insurance. Drove back home (Tire rub on bumps) to get another car. Left V1 in 06 Jetta( mistake) 120 miles later after passing car there was second trooper. I guess it wasn't meant for me to go today. I will have my wife drive me. We can't both be jinxed.

Well,it was my turbo feed line-the connection at turbo was weak. When I tried to undo nut-the line fell off above nut.I ended up taking the intake off and will put original one back on-then I will put the rubber washers underneath the valve cover so oil stops weeping out of top.No oil in intercooler hose on bottom-so turbo should be ok for now.Hope everyone is having a good time and that weather is good.
