2015 Jetta (TDI CVCA) manual trans.

Found this small cloth heat shield/reflector wrap tucked under the engine cover, part # 04L 971 461 A.
Some sites list 04L 971 461 AB as replacement for my 04L 971 461 A part.

Was not partially attached to anything, just stuffed under injector lines. Didn't see anything nearby that it looked like it fell off of.

I haven't found a parts diagram online that leads me to it's under-hood placement / location.

Since the car has only been serviced at one dealership I kinda suspect a dealer tech. had it left over one day and instead of just tossing it "nicely" decided to tuck it away for safekeeping. Maybe it was a part no longer needed/replaced/updated when 2nd stage emissions recall was done?

Can anyone here help me solve the mystery?

As a bit of an aside, I haven't delved into getting a "bootleg" ETKA in years since my quite ancient one served fine for my modest Mk. IV / ALH purposes. Is it still probable to find ETKA applicable for 2015 Jetta if I scrape around the web? Any hints appreciated.

I did find an almost exact diagram of 04L 971 461 A as a standalone part (#6 below) on overseas site (under holder for wiring harness; securing parts for engi..., Golf, Mexico 2016) no help for placement, describes as "heat refective mat wastegate" (does the CVCA even have a wastegate???) and applications don't list 2015 Jetta, shows / listed for (I dropped down the Golfs in case that helps anyone help me):
Audi A3/S3/Sportb/qu.
Audi A3 Cabriolet
Audi A1
Audi Q3
Audi TT/TTS Coupe/Roadster
Seat Leon/Leon 4
Skoda Octavia
Volkswagen Golf
GO BR 2013 2016
GO MEX 2014 2016
GO USA 2015 2016
Volkswagen Golf
GOM BR 2015 2016
GOM RA 2015 2016
GOM USA 2014 2016
Volkswagen Golf/Variant/4Motion
GOLF RDW 2013 2016
GOLF ZA 2013 2016

Thanks guys!

Its supposed to cover the connector on top of the turbo for the wastegate.

There's a wastegate on the CVCA engine turbo?

After digging deep around some Russian online VAG ETKA sites with the help of google translate I found this diagram (in the ETKA system I THINK it is diagram 131-046), says applicable to Volkswagen Jetta 2015 - 2017 USA BUT I'm not finding CVCA engine code attached to that diagram and the VIN lookup doesn't recognize my USA VIN.
If there are any ETKA whizzes out there I'd appreciate any input you can give.

#3 is the part I found, Heat insulation mat 04L 971 461 AB or 04L 971 461 A
#1 is Exhaust gas recirculation cooler 04L 131 512 AL or 04L 131 512 L
#2 is Exhaust gas circulation system valve 04L 131 501 L

Was this part part of the 2nd stage emissions recall work??

I appreciate the help, sorry, I guess I'm confused.

Are you saying the placement is different from the diagram (on turbo not EGR cooler valve) or is indeed as the diagram leads me to believe that it covers the EGR cooler valve or the connector to that valve?

The turbo (& exhaust manifold) is #31 in the diagram, right?

I guess I need to just go take a look now that I have an idea what neighborhood I'm looking in, may be just the diagram / orientation is confusing me and you & I are saying the same thing since that valve is pretty close (a connecting tube away) to the turbo housing.

Sigh, it's tough being an old ALH guy, hand me any A4 or ALH part and pretty good chance I know where it goes, not used to all this hunting around.;)

Thank you!
