Dear Xxxxxxx

Reference # 03114xxxx

Thank you for taking the time to contact ExxonMobil's Consumer Care Center.

Please be advised that most ExxonMobil stations do not carry bio-diesel fuel, only 100% diesel. In case of any doubt, we recommend contacting your local station for more information.

Thank you once again for taking the time to contact us and for allowing us the opportunity to assist you.

Sincerely,

Luc

Mine too, I've kept my page of Cetane numbers up for how many years now? Customer care is often pretty clueless too :-/

Guilty as charged

Educate me about Cetane numbers.

Will be having the "fix" done to my TDi. But no MODs

Plan on driving it 'til the end.

you don't break out the test set everytime you fill up? amature

Only place i've seen anything worth while was in Toronto where they had a shell with diesel and diesel +plus, what ever that was, seeing I only needed a splash and go to make it back to US soil figured the extra 10 cents a gallon was worth it.

In Canadia, they price it by the liter... That would have been 40 cents (CAD) per gallon then, plus the exchange rate so more like 70 cents per gallon. Ouchie.

Of course, I have found that "Diesel plus" at a station here and there very infrequently... And NOBODY at those stations has been able to tell me what the difference is or why it might be desirable.

Fuel station clerks are...clerks. They know as much about the fuel they sell as they do a Snickers.

Read this thread titled "Canadian 'premium' diesel is mostly bogus http://www.myturbodiesel.com/threads/canadian-premium-diesel-is-mostly-bogus.11063/ The shell product has small bottle of additive in the premium diesel pump. Designed to add maybe a percent as it is pumping diesel. Of course that relies on the station attendants finding a key, opening the pumps, checking to make sure the bottle is not empty on a regular basis, and filling it with the additive.

best diesel I have found is Kwik Fill super diesel in north east PA/W NY. A tdiclub member used to work at the refinery and the product is refined to a higher standard, tested more rigidly, THEN it gets an additive. I remember his post saying he has seen an entire truck load that would have passed fine as Diesel get rejected as super diesel and re-processed (which surely costs the $).

When I was driving TDIs, the Raceways by me put up a sign advertising their new "Premium Diesel". I e-mailed them asking what made it premium and the guy said he would contact the supplier. A few days later, the signs were down and the rep wrote back saying they're no longer advertising the premium diesel.

^^^ditto for BP/Amoco in the No. Va region. Several were advertising 45, even 47 cetane. I worked up the food chain, then confronted several station owners with the info that BP/Amoco had stopped "premium diesel" 18 months prior. It took a while, but all the signs came down, 40 cetane on all the pumps.
