How to retrieve original PIN for IMMO-3 without original Instrument Cluster

My original instrument cluster is unreadable and therefore, I cannot get the original SKC or PIN belonging to the car in order to complete my swap with a new (used) cluster. I was able to get the PIN out of the new cluster, but I need to somehow obtain the original PIN in order to adapt the new cluster via VCDS instruments (17) adaptation (050) to set it up with the original PIN. I am able to physically change the code of the new cluster to match IMMO-ID and VIN appearing in the ECU, but that is not enough to allow me to match keys to the car (FYI, I could go through the key matching process with new tranponder chips, and everything seemed normal, but as soon as I reinserted the keys, the IMMO light blinked again).

Basically, I think I need to read the original code off of the ECU, or I read somewhere that the code is linked to and can be read from the cutout in the keys. I used VAG EEPROM PROGRAMMER to read the Dash and get the login for the new cluster, but cannot use it to read the ECU. Does anyone know how to either read the ECU via the OBDII port and some program or how to read the keys based off of a picture?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. And no, I don't want to spend an arm and leg and the dealership let alone not being able to drive my car there because of the IMMO.

This is my latest Auto-Scan with the IMMO-ID and VIN matched only because I manually changed the code in the new cluster hoping it would help, but apparently the pin also has to match in both the cluster and ECU.

I am glad to say that I have figured it out. Someone sent me the program, VAG Commander, with which I pulled the PIN off of the ECU. Then, with the keys with the original transponder chips in them I adapted the new cluster to the ecu via VCDS-Instruments(17)-Adaptation-Channel 50, where I input the PIN that I retrieved off of the ECU. Then, I rematched my original keys with the old transponders to the cluster and everything works, even the IMMO. I did not need to program new keys (transponder chips).

I assume it would be same procedure for the B6, but I learned what needed to be done on a '03 Jetta. Anyway, first you will need an interface cable like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/331795612427?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
and I used a couple of different programs. If your old instrument cluster is still allowing communication thru the OBD port, it will be easier for you than it was for me. It is easiest using VCDS-lite (registered version - $99) to adapt the used cluster. However, to obtain your current, original pin stored in the original cluster and ECU, you will need to use VAG EEPROM PROGRAMMER as described in this post: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?7868801-Cluster-Replacement to obtain the pin code (0####). You can then plug in the used cluster and do the same thing to find that cluster's code. Then using VCDS, you will adapt the new (used) cluster using this procedure and the 2 pins you just found: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer_III_Immobilizer_Swapping_(Instrument_Cluster
It sounds pretty confusing, and it would be possible to complete this w/o vcds and manually enter the new pin and VIN into the HEX code of the used cluster, however, that is sketchy and could mess things up. Also, with the VAG EEPROM PROGRAMMER, you can change the mileage of the used cluster to whatever you want. Again, I am assuming it will be the same procedure as to what I had for the model I had, however, things could differ slightly. I had to do a lot of homework and trial and error before I had success. PM me if you need more info or help.
