Just pickup a 2015 Passat TDI highline and was wondering if its possible to install a better backup camera with the stock head unit and in the same location. Maybe the camera from a 2016 or newer passat? Also same question with the navigation, is it possible to use a headunit from a 2016 or newer passat with little to no modification?

Should just just be running the camera loom, installing the trunk handle and coding the radio.
We did it on our 12 SE with Nav which is the 513RNS.
I think kits can be had for $200ish.
As for changing the head unit, I think a '16 should work as I don't believe any major changes in the car would prevent it.
I have seen a VW head unit used on tiquans/possibly passat as well that allow car play that should be an upgrade, not sure if you lose sat radio thou.

I've never heard of either of these units.
Are these typos of RNS-315 and RNS-510? Or are they a new unit I am unaware of?
I'd just like to run the camera and head unit from a new model passat on my 2015. I dont want to do any or much modification m. Android auto would be nice but also a bigger screen and quicker load times and better gps

so do you have a RNS510 with back up camera and are looking for a better camera?
One thing i've noticed with the NMS and back up camera is how low it's pointed, its looking at the ground more than what's behind the car, no mater the head unit i don't think there is a change to that as i think there is one camera availible, meaning one resolution.
