Just bought a 2015 Mk7 Golf Sportswagon and sort of bummed out that the mib1 screen is soo small and no apple carplay support, is there anyway to add apple carplay without going mib2 and $$$$?
Was looking on fleabay and stumbled on the VW Chinese market headunit with the 6.5in screen and CarPlay.
Has anyone successfully installed this unit?

If your car has the Fender sound system upgrade, you might want to check to see if that unit is compatible.

Yep - that was me. Didn't realize that Fender Premium audio uses MOST (fiber optic) to send the sound signals from the head unit to the amp...then the amp out to the speakers, and ordered up something similar.

Got it - looked great, worked great. Except no way, no how to get sound. I have (had) a "for sale" thread for that unit (since sold) that shows the issue, I think.
