I took my car in to my local shop to have them look at a shock, which they fixed, and they mentioned they thought there also was a motor mount problem.
1) How many motor mounts are there on a 2003 TDI wagon and where are they located?
2) What is a dogbone and is that related?
3) Are there any other mounts to replace, like transmission mounts.
3a) Are there any other parts you should replace instead of re-use.
4) There seems to be some kind of shock absorber mounted to the left side of the engine (left of the timing belt I believe) that has a bushing on its lower end. This busing seems very loose. What part is this? (dogbone?)
5) Last what parts SHOULD I definitely replace or seriously inspect when dealing with motor mounts?
2003 Jetta Wagon TDI. 110,000k. Biodiesel all the way. Bilstein springs and struts. Panzer Plater. Alligator Chiped. Bosio Injectors.
Thanks
Doug
PS. I did search for "motor mount" and just saw wingnuts broken engine block. Is there a write-up about this repair anywhere?
