FS: 2000 Golf TDI GLS, 179K miles (Northern VA)

Long time TDI Club member (1999, Arlington VA) selling one-owner Golf TDI GLS, MY2000, 178,522 miles, ALH engine, 4 door, manual. Exterior: White, Interior: Gray cloth.

Includes: Power moonroof, Power locks, Power windows, Monsoon radio, 6 CD player, Alloy wheels, Heated seats, Heated power mirrors, Heated washer fluid, wide angle exterior mirror, Euro headlight switch, upgraded metal window regulator clips, window rain deflectors, VW heavy duty front mats, Weather Tech hatch mat, splashguards, Bentley Service Manual, two key fobs and valet key.

Excellent mechanical condition. No mechanical issues (engine, belts, suspension, brakes, etc). Well maintained by Wheaton Auto Center (VW’s only since 1950) and Euroworks (VWs and Audis only). Current Virginia Inspection and Emissions stickers. Air Conditioning blows very cold. Never needs oil between changes.

Timing belt changed 25K miles ago.

Exterior condition: Very Good. No rust, no dents, some chips. Bumper has some scrapes and and a self-induced area of paint bubbles.
Interior condition: Very Good. Just detailed, various parts showing age (door pulls, gear shift boot, driver seat two/three very small holes).

MAINTENANCE HISTORY (have paperwork) (My goal was to always have car run and drive like new).
117K miles (Oct 2008): Replaced Glow plug harness
120K miles (February 2009): Replaced Glow plugs
131K miles (February 2010): Replaced Diesel injection pump
143K miles (Oct 2011): Replaced Rear shock absorbers, Strut mounts and bearings, Control arm bushings, Sway bar bushings, Vacuum pump seal, Valve cover gasket
150K (June 2013): New Michelin MXV4 tires (37K miles on tires)
162K miles (Oct 2015): Replaced: Timing belt and tensioner assembly, idler rollers/pulley, Center lower engine mount, Right axle seal, Front crankcase seal, Serpentine belt, Water pump, Thermostat, Anti-freeze, Brake light switch
Jan 2016: New Battery
166K (Sept 2016): Replaced Brake fluid, Fuel filter, Parking brake cables, Antifreeze
170K miles (April 2017): Replaced Transmission fluid
176K miles: Replaced oil pan gasket, front brake pads and rotors, engine oil and filter, cabin filter, air filter
178K miles (June 2018): Replaced Crank position sensor

Minor issues:
1. Body work performed on driver door and right quarter panel. Excellent job. No structural repairs required. Driver’s door is “brighter” as paint job recent (July 2015)
2. Several interior plastic pieces broken (door lock button cracked, arm rest lid latch missing spring) or missing (glove box handle – but door opens and closes, seat belt bolt cover at B-pillar)
3. Left rear power window sticks. Sometimes need to pull up switch more than once.
4. Right front door sometimes need to pull twice. Likely cable adjustment.
5. Air vents blowing some gray foam (insulation?)
6. No engine cover. Two of the three bolts not usable (stripped out - thanks VW....)
7. Bumpers nicked up (left rear bumper paint blistered…my fault…used too strong bumper sticker remover…grrr)
8. Couple ink spots on seat

Vehicle is very reliable, mechanically sound, very good shape all around. My only car for over 18 years. Bought new car last week, no need for two cars.

Asking $3,200. All photos taken within past three days. If you have any questions, please ask. Hoping to keep the car within Fred’s TDI family so holding off putting car on Craig’s List, etc. VW is not “4 Motion” all-wheel drive, in spite of hatch emblem.

Some photos have a blue tint for some reason.
