Oil in and out of intercooler...

I have quite a bit of goopy oil in the intercooler of my 98 tdi Beetle.

The kid was driving the car, and was driving in some quite heavily snowed roads. A rather hard lump of snow whacked the intercooler, and cracked the ear that holds the bottom inlet of the intercooler. It didnt break right out it just cracked, but the resulting crak in the intercooler puked / squirted oily air all over the A/C clutch. The A/C clutch is now very thoroughly lubricated.

Anyways, I'm going to try fibreglass and epoxy to fix the intercooler. Hopefully it works, because a new intercooler is $450. The epoxy stuff costs $2. Won't hurt to try.

I understand that a small amount of oil in the intake air is normal. How much is too much?

Can one buy a seal kit for the turbo? Has anyone had success with "kitting" a turbo?

If you baby it a lot you'll get quite a bit of oil. But by the sounds of it it's normal.

JB Weld or other products like it work fine on intercoolers.
