AdBlue lack of use - waiting for the light...

Sages,
In '17 bought '15 Golf TDI 6MT w. 26k, 1st emiss fix done by selling dealer.
At present have 56,7 two years later - have yet to see AdBlue dash light indicating need for refill. Does 30K without having to refill said tank seem
credible/reasonable?
Suggestions? Am loath to just throw some DEF in without knowing consumption.

Does the dealer change your oil? If so they are topping it off for you, it’s part of the 10000 mile service.

Dealers may fill up but if they do I'm sure they charge trough the nose for it.

a 2.5 gallon cube of DEF seems to last 10-15K miles, so a full tank should last close to 30K, consumption is also dictated by driving habits too.

At least at my dealer an oil change includes topping off all fluids of which DEF is included.

I believe all the 3.0 TDI engines (Cayenne, Touareg, Q7) got free DEF fill ups from any dealer as part of the dieselgate settlement. I've heard that plenty of dealers will fill up any and all TDIs for free just to avoid any (more) legal issues.

Waiting for Adblue light

Appreciate responses.
Negative re dealer oil change - buy own supplies and take to independent garage, so not being topped off inadvertently.
Will see if my guy has VCDS and advise - has to go in this week for annual inspection anyway.

Wholeheartedly endorse winter use of Hakkapelitta 9 studded Nokian snows come winter - better than my 4WD 6MT Pro4X Xterra other than ground clearance...

I missed the release date for Haka 9 but we have Haka 8 studded for both rides, Alltrack def eats it up until you run out of ground clearance.

We may be sourcing replacements for the Passat this fall, it will be year 3 and 20K with them, the wife likes to unload them while there 's still some used value left on them to reinvest in new tires.

I wait until the car yells at me saying 400 miles or less, then just dump the whole 2.5 gallons into it, no worries about over filling and making a mess on the side of the car, lasts at least as long as an oil change service, in fact I just went 2 service intervals between fillups and only had to fill up again a few hundered miles ago.

I just bought a cheap 2.5 gallon jug from wal mart for like $8 and turned off the
light

32 K to turn on Ad Blue light

90% highway, 50 miles/day round trip to work, avging 44-45mpg...
diesel is currently 2.85/gal, northeaster NYS.

Shearer VW in So. Burlington, Vt (where my 6sp man Golf came from) has another grey 6sp with under 15k miles...beat the rush...

Stock passats are about 1.5" taller than a GWS TDI (I think our passats winters are 215-60-16, forget what the 18"s are) than the golf but they will fit on the golf.
