seems like they are offering a buyback with price depending on mode, state of purchase, mileage etc with a minimum buyback of $12,500 and a max of 44000.

People who have a lease or loan will have different options.

if you decide to keep the car waiting for a fix, you will get some money

Buyback will include a loan payoff or erasure (if with VW finance)... This is crazy

Buyback option: Volkswagen must offer to buy back any affected 2.0 liter vehicle at their retail value as of September 2015 -- just prior to the public disclosure of the emissions issue. Consumers who choose the buyback option will receive between $12,500 and $44,000, depending on their car’s model, year, mileage, and trim of the car, as well as the region of the country where it was purchased. In addition, because a straight buyback will not fully compensate consumers who owe more than their car is worth due to rapid depreciation, the FTC order provides these consumers with an option to have their loans forgiven by Volkswagen. Consumers who have third party loans have the option of having Volkswagen pay off those loans, up to 130 percent of the amount a consumer would be entitled to under the buyback (e.g., if the consumer is entitled to a $20,000 buyback, VW would pay off his/her loans up to a cap of $26,000).

yeah Road and Track posted with not a lot of details, but the one thing they did mention that the CNET post did not was.....

Buyback values will be determined by the retail value of the affected vehicle as of September 2015, prior to Volkswagen's public disclosure of the widespread emissions cheating. Owners who choose to sell their cars back to Volkswagen will receive between $12,500 and $44,000, depending on vehicle condition and mileage. The Federal Trade Commission is also requiring VW to pay off the loans of owners who owe more than their affected TDI vehicle is worth, up to 130 percent of the buyback value of the car.

The way I read it, you'll get the trade value of NADA based on mileage and options and region as of Sept 2015, plus an additional 20% on top of that, Plus about $2990, the 20% +$3000 will not be less then $5000. Sound about right?

Disregard, just saw the numbers on No Cal Fed page. And the VW Courtsettlement page is live.

Looks like from the No Cal page, my car will be between $19500 and $21800, plus between $5800 and $6100, just about full sticker. Not bad, a free car for 3 years.

After further reading, I am thinking I am incorrect. It seems that the $19500-$21800 includes the cash settlement, the $5800-6100 is only if I want the repair. Cue sad trombones;-(

Yeah, I saw that too. All I can assume is the NADA values are lowball. My car on KBB was worth $19,250 before this fiasco and now the "range" on the court page is saying a max payout of $24,257. That only computes if the Sept 2015 NADA values are significantly lower.

Would the $$$ for my highly regarded (by this sailor) 2013 JSW 6M - with all factors included be about $17,500 - - - 39,500 miles.....no dings (or damage).............

I appreciate the help. I am document research comprehension challenged (now you know why I ended up a ship driver - - - minimum reading comp skills necessary. Just above average relation motion perception................

So, if I opt to wait for a "fix". Do I only receive the restitution payment upon completion of the emission modification, if they even come up with one?

Or do they pay the restitution fee up front upon entering the program and waiting for a fix?

They also say that upon entering the emission modification will still entitle you to the buy back option if a fix doesn't come available.
That being a couple years from now, will the buy back value still reflect the 2015 pre scandal values?

Sorry for the questions , just stuff that I will need to know before makeing a decision.

I believe you get the $5100 plus (see said tables) upon agreeing to it, but you then either have to get it fixed when repair is available or they will buy it back. I think 85% have to be repaired or bought back by 2018per the agreement.

So Option 2 (fix + cash) does not happen until VW has an approved fix (with a deadline of May 2018)?

No money before fix?

(EDIT) Looks like there are options for previous owners owners. Or your car gets totaled before settlement with VW.

You dont get the 4 until its fixed. Then if they fix it in 'stages' you only get partial cash.

Extremely lame. I dont love you that much VW, and I damn sure dont trust you with my money anymore.
