Hi all. I can't find the directions for my Rocketchip switchable ECM (2 and 3.1). Would anybody have the directions to switch the ECMs and activate the two programs? It's at 2000 TDI Beetle.

Thanks.

None now. Former: 2011 335d, 2010 Jetta TDI, 2003 Jetta TDI Wagon. 99.5 Jetta TDI, 98 NB TDI, 3 different black 96 Passat TDI wagons.
This was recently posted as I recall, try a search.

Using VAG-COM

1. Goto Engine

2. Goto Adaption

3. Change to either 00001 or 00002 (depending on your programing)

4. Do-It

5. Close controller

6. Cycle key off, then on (resets ECM)

7. Go back in and make sure that the programing has changed.

For me, #00001 is RC2, #00002 is RC3. Your programing may differ.

Thanks. I thought there was something additional for changing ECMs. I look on the Bentley CD, if it still works.

It's all coming back to me now. :)
I found the coding in Bentley-I thought ECM changeout required a login of some sort but it doesn't (m.y. 2000).
Problem with the 3.1 as I recall is that the ASR light comes on.
Now to see if I can changeout the pins injector harness for the .205's. Always a hassle. :)

I figure, go for the gusto at 210k miles - if it goes I can justify a new SportWagen (don't tell Mrs. VF) :)

Of course, it'll probably go another 100k miles. Hey, then there'll be used SportWagens. :)

I switched coding from 00001 to 00002 during my lunchbreak. I was under the assumption that I had RC2/RC3 respectively, but 00002 felt like stock...and that wasn't a good feeling. It bogged on the lower throttle and didn't have the kick that 00001 had. It might be that RC3 wasn't programmed in my ECM, but I'll just be happy with RC2. I put it back when I got back to the parking lot.

How do you know which is which? Maybe "1" and "2" are different on yours. As I recall, 3 does have a bigger kick to it.

Of course, injectors really help too.

(I managed to switch out the connector last night, thankfully, and replaced two of the four injectors before "House" came on. Replacing one at a time and starting the motor after each one seems to work very smoothly.)

Hi Karl,

If its vagswitchable, it says the tuning in the header, ie RC s02 or RC s03, etc - look carefully. Sorry not all RC tunings are vagswitchable only euro 110 firmware upgrades. There are so many different TDI archetectures that one answer can't fits all users.

Got everything together the other night. Quite a bit more peppy now. The ECM did need to be introduced to the immob2 cluster via vag com using directions on the ross-tech site.
