Thunk With Hard Braking?

Anybody else had the sensation of a thunk under the driver's side during hard braking? "Thunk" might be a bit strong, more like feeling a catch underfoot when you really slam on the brakes.

I was told its that there is a missing sub frame washer. Mine does it too.There is a thread about it. A service writer at my dealer said they would fix mine at the next oil change.

Had the same thing happen to me and brought it in for inspection. It was found that the sub-frame was missing some washers / spacers thus allowing it to shift during acceleration. Parts were acquired quickly, and installed under warranty. Have not heard the noise since.

There was evidence of wear at the sub-frame mount bolts as well, and these were also replaced.

Sounds like a bad control arm "compliance bushing" to me. Very common.
