Had the typical engine oil leak on my 05 passat. Thought it was the valve cover, but after taking valve cover off and inspecting it, I was fairly sure that it wasn't the problem. Finally found the leak by removing 90 degree elbow from intake to plastic rigid pipe, and taking a mirror and flashlight and inspecting tandem pump with engine idling. Could see oil seeping from between the sections of the tandem pump. I removed the pump and tore it apart. After contacting the dealer and learning that there are no parts available for the pump, except for the metal gasket where it mounts to the head, I decided to try to repair it. I just took a VERY LIGHT film of black silicone to all the surfaces (they had o-ring's and/or square sided packings sealing them), and also to both sides of the mounting gasket. There are passage holes in the pump and the mounting gasket, so I only put a very thin film of RTV on the surfaces, so I wouldn't plug them off. I reassembled pump and installed and so far no leaks. Beats $300 or whatever the tandem pump costs.
