ugh you coulda saved a dollar, almost..

with tanks as small as ours, spending any real effort to save a few cents on fuel is working for less than minimum wage..

now when I drove a big v8 dual tank truck, completely different story..

As I'm fond of saying, "It's the principle of the thing!" There's something about that drop from a whole dollar to x.99 that psychologically is a barrier between "I paid too much " and "I got a deal". Advertisers certainly know that.

Plus, saved pennies turned into saved quarters turn into saved dollars turns into a meal out… especially when you're scrimping like some us do. Even if I made a really good wage, I am positive I'd still be a deal hunter. It's just in my nature.

Locally, diesel is bottomed out at $1.939 for cash at Dodge's or $1.949 at a few other stores… Now that's one penny per gallon I don't mind spending to stay out of the seedy station and not having to go in and pay like a plebe.

Lol. Yeah...I don't go driving around looking to save $0.50-0.80. However, it will annoy me every time I fill up and happen to go past a cheaper station down the road.

The way I look at it, if I save 10 or 20 cents/gallon on every tank I buy, and I buy about 1000-1200 gallons a year, that can be a couple hundred dollars at the end of the year.

Amazingly, there are still a handful of stations around here charging over $3.00/gallon, and one that's been stuck at $3.69 for most of this year. I wouldn't be surprised if the diesel in their tanks has been there since the summer; so anyone who buys there is paying almost double for fuel that's not winterized and will probably gel when it turns cold in a week or two.

I've seen diesel for $2.15-2.17 at a few stations around. The KwikTrip I usually go to has it for the $2.17 price. Most of the others are around the $2.29 range. I've had my car since Nov. 2006, and I don't remember prices being this low that entire time.

1.82 at BJ's in Howell. I've never seen prices this low in the 10 years I've owned this car!

$1.739 at the Wally World in Hazelgreen Al. Fuel is cheaper at this location because it is in the county and not subject to the extra taxes the city tacks on. I just plan on fueling up when I'm near there. I have been going 2 weeks between fuel ups unless we are traveling.

$1.84/D2 a couple blocks from work to $3.09/D2 across town. Noticed a lot of cash/credit pricing going around here.

$1.59/RUG to $2.59/RUG

$1.63 for RUG and 1.71 for diesel. The cheapest I've ever seen for my car since I purchased it in 2005!

$1.74 in Lake Wylie, SC last week. That was the least expensive fill up since I've owned Liesl.

$2.22 at Caseys close to me which is 0% Bio

RUG is $1.79-1.85 depending

Of course IL would have their dirty hands in why ours in higher, they charge at the least 6.25% sales tax (hidden in the price) and could be more depending on where you live.

On the local news last night it was reported that gas prices jumped this week here in California due to "refinery problems". Yeah, right; it looks like the refineries here in California (the only sources for CARB gasoline) are going to start revolving "shutdowns" again to hike the price. So far no increase in CARB Diesel price though; it's $2.159 at the casino station around the corner.

Finally dropped below $2 at $1.999. With my $1/gallon discount at Kroger, I filled up for less than $16!:D
