Red Line MT-LV gear oil

I stumbled across a new Red Line gear oil, and it's lighter weight than even the MTL. It's closer to the consistency of the OE VW gear oil, G060 726 A2 and G070. They call it a 70/75w. Also of note is the numerous modern VW gear oil part numbers they say it cross references to, which they did not say about the MT90 or MTL gear oils.

There are numerous other numbers for other brands it references, but I'm only copying the VW/Audi stuff here.

This has part numbers that cross reference to both 02A/02J and newer 5 speeds as well as 02M and up 6 speed transverse transaxles.

I was never happy with how MTL or MT90 felt in VW transaxles, especially in cold weather. But, the last couple years I have been using their Shockproof superlight with great success blended with either OEM or Valvoline MTF Synchromesh. I've had a couple transmissions that were difficult to get into a couple gears or were occasionally grinding a gear easily and it makes an immediate improvement and continues to get better and better the longer it's driven. Very impressed with it.

Now they have their own light weight gear oil you can use as is or if you have a particularly difficult transmission, mixing it with Shockproof to see if you can net some improvement is certainly worth a shot before condemning the box for a rebuild.

Currently have a customer's car running this mix and have been very happy with how it drives. Will likely switch one of my own 5 speeds to the mix and see how it goes. Or if the transmission is already in good operating order and shifts easily, straight MT-LV ought to work quite well.

Sounds like something beneficial for me having to deal with very cold temps (-10c to -15c on an average morning) during the winter months here in Canada, some mornings my clutch pedal feels like I'm pushing through molasses and that's with g070 only 15,000 kms old. Does the thinner viscosity of the mt-lv still hold up during the summer when temps are much warmer? I thought people were already criticizing g070 for being too thin and not offering enough protection when hot and to stick with 52 or 60 if possible.

Do you think it would be a good idea to mix the Shockproof Superlight with the MT-LV @ 50/50 ?

I don't see why there would be any problem blending the red line mtl fluids. I may give the new LV a shot in my 0A4-kqm 5-speed that has an annoying gear rollover tick in neutral.

MT-LV it is a GL4 oil. Does anyone knows if Shockproof Superlight is a GL4 or GL5?

I do not think it is specified by Redline (if not please someone post a reference). Some people have been using this mixed with MT-LV with good results so far (including myself in my 2004 Passat with the 012 five speed transmission code EEN).
