Happy October, everyone! It's that time of year when I'm happy to announce our 10th annual Detroit Auto Show get-together, aka "Winterfest!"

WHEN:
This year's GTG date: Saturday, January 14th, 2017 (first public day of the show). Due to the large number of out-of-towners who frequent this event, the GTG will start on Friday evening and conclude with breakfast at The Bomber on Sunday morning.

http://naias.com/ for more information on the auto show.

Based on positive feedback from last year, we will be returning to JD Racing's all-electric indoor go karting facility in Novi, Michigan.

LODGING:
Once again, we will be staying at the Ypsilanti Marriott. It's a 40 minute drive from the COBO Center, it's a great place to stay, and Ypsi is an awesome town with awesome food (and not far from Ann Arbor).

Hotel pricing is $136.00 per night for concierge level rooms (to avoid the hockey kids). We have rooms available on Friday, January 13th and Saturday, January 14th. If you would like to extend your stay beyond these two dates, let me know via PM.

Hotel booking deadline is December 19th, 2016. After this date, any unsold rooms in our block will be released to general sales. If you're interested in attending this event, please book your room before December 19th.

I'd host a soirée if you booked a hotel near me, ya goof. Regardless, I'll be around for some of the events.

Hey Lawson - I might give this a try as I'm only about 3 hours away. Not sure if I'd only show up for Saturday or stay overnight. I'll decide by Dec. 19th and let you know. - Robert

Gonna do what we can to make it happen this year. Missed out on last year, which would have been my 20th NAIAS in a row... Kinda bummed I broke the streak!

I'm in. Peter V too. Going to drive this year. Jetter may be joining as well. Flying was easy, but not as much fun.

I booked the hotel. The "which car to take" discussion has begun. I'm excited!

Nice! Flying just isn't the same. The potential for a blizzard adds excitement! ;) :D

You mean like this? (from 2012)

Doesn't look too bad, but 8 hours of that can get tiring.

Yep. I wish I had pics from one of the trips back to Michigan in the Jetta after Ho5G. It was pretty white knuckle through Erie, PA. So far, I've had pretty good luck with auto show GTG weather.

I remember the 1st time I went with you Lawson that the Passat had some bad tires on it.......and it snowed just enough.....the indents are probably still in that right rear armrest.....

Yeah that was exciting. First thing we did in Ypsi was go to Costco and buy new tires.

Those stock Hankooks were total garbage.

Just over a month left to book your hotel rooms, folks. :)

The link to book is in the first post, and it expires on December 19th.

All TDI's - No gassers! Luxo-Tourer = 13 Passat (hands down, the nicest car we've ever owned), Most fun = MK4 Golf
I'm in - normally driving bus that weekend to Winter Retreat for senior highers, but going to beg off this year - hopefully bringing one or two of my TDI helpers too - I'll know for sure my next week (on them) Lawson. And then make reserv's.
