My 98 beetle quit me last week driving down the road. I am not getting the glow plug light to come on. I have tried 2 new 109 relays neither one worked. I was wondering if my ECM could have taken a crap?
You need to find someone who has a test ecm. Your 98 ecm is different than 2000 and up. It probably lisn't the ecm. Did you do all the checks on the troubleshooting guide? Do have a trusted mechanic in your area? Make sure you are getting voltage to the wire on top of the injection pump just above the 4 steel fuel lines. How many miles on the car and has the timing belt been changed. Will the engine turn over or just turn over and not start?
We dont have any good mechanics around here close. I am getting 11.6 volts to the injection pump. the car has 165,000 miles and the timing belt was done at 150,000. the engine will turn over it just wont fire.
