Nice lookin tdi Simon looks brand new again!
Did you ever happen to know who the owner before you was?P2B said:Checked under the carpet in the trunk tonight - 2 golf tees and a nickel, otherwise spotless
I did a little detective work so I do know who the original owner was, but I haven't contacted him. He still lives in Toronto at the same address he had when he bought the car new, but it could be the same car you saw on PEI - the wheels are unusual, especially on an A4. Maybe they came off his previous VW - he traded in the 2003 on a 2009 JSW TDI.je said:Did you ever happen to know who the owner before you was?
A couple of years ago I went to a golf course on PEI, and there was a car that looked exactly like yours, with the A3 wheels on it. I thought it might have belonged to suds, but checked and it was not his. It could have been this car!
I didn't keep exact records, but I think the boost gauge parts cost around $40 (a couple of years ago) - most expensive bit was the pressure sensor at ~$20.I like that boost gauge - was it much to make? I have one 10-element voltage divider but it wouldn't light up all those LEDs. Have to see how you did that.
Hey, where have you been hiding? How's the Cabby coming?c5ho said:Hey Simon, I kept thinking how the wheel refinishing went. They turned out awesome!
what's the key to keeping it reliable? Leave it stock with an egr delete?
Turned over 300k on the way to the cottage today.
Most economical and reliable car I've ever owned.

Clicking the pic at the right moment at 300K while driving at 120kmph - quiet a balancing act Simon , Congrats!

Not driving the car helps a lot too! 300K in 16 years in very little. It's not stock - see my sig Still has egr, though.
I try to complete all routine maintenance on time, and fix the small issues before they get bigger or numerous. These cars seem to respond well to preventative maintenance.

Or 91K miles in 10 years since purchase. Not driving the car helps a lot too! 300K in 16 years in very little.
That's how much my '99.5 and '00 had when I sold them. people actually paid money for them because they were diesels. By that time both cars were really worn out. I didn't want to spend money on doing a full suspension rebuild so that the next owner can enjoy it.Or 91K miles in 10 years since purchase.
This is my '02 last July. Bought new in '02
Has almost exactly 10K more miles on it now. 380K mile service next weekend.
True. Type of driving probably helps too, it gets a run to the cottage (180km each way) most weekends, and not much use through the week. Not driving the car helps a lot too! 300K in 16 years in very little.
That's a great picture. I remember taking one almost exactly like it.
