Hello everyone, car is a 2015 Jetta s tdi dsg 83k miles. Bought it at 50k miles.

Car has no issues. Runs great. I get in it the other day day and tranny light comes on immediately. I panic turn around and go home. Only thing I can think is to check the tranny fluid but I’m not at a place with tools to do. I’m about 40 miles away from a scanner and oil. Am I safe to drive there cautiously? What should I do?

Thank you

There are just too many to list....
Not anything you can do without a scan tool, but if it seems to be running and working OK, I would drive it to get serviced.

The DSG won't work without enough fluid, and you'd have a big puddle under the car if it were that low anyway.

big puddle or the underside of the car covered in fluid if it was lost while driving.

I didn't think there was a specific "transmission light" on the dash but an error that pops up in the MFD that states something like "transmission error, leave in park" if it notices any issues.

Is the OP sure it isn't just a CEL?

The later VAG cars have an actual transmission MIL (other cars do too).

It is the little round gear looking thing.
