Hello all.
Looking to get 2011 Sportwagen TDI.

VW website has them as Salsa Red.
Local dealer has one on the lot, Salsa Red.
However, other dealer shows one on its way, Tornado Red.
Is Tornado Red replacing all Salsa Reds now?

More importantly, which color is "better."
I saw the Salsa Red on the lot--it seemed like a bright red.
Is Tornado Red darker, lighter, any ideas?

Please advise.

Hi guys....
I just went to VW online and built just a Jetta TDI (not a SportWagen).
It lists the red as "Tornado Red (late availability)."

So, do you think Salsa Red is evolving into Tornado Red now?

Anyone have any idea how Tornado Red compares to Salsa Red?

I can get the Salsa Red which is on the lot now, or wait a week and get the Tornado Red which arrives soon.

Any advice?

Thanks!

Dealer said paint code confirmed Tornado Red.
After seeing what we s online with the Jetta color (see post above) he thinks The Salsa Red is switching over to Tornado Red.

2011 Sportwagen TDI. (not just the sedan).

There are just too many to list....
Salsa red is darker than Tornado red, the latter of which has been available for at least 25 years now. Let's just hope they can figure out how to make it not fade :p.

Tornado red has always been a pretty popular color, I was kinda surprised it ever left. I like Salsa red better, though.

My '87 GTI 16v was Tornado red. Loved that car. Had it for almost 10 years and almost 175,000 miles, then the transmission blew. :D

Sold it to a VW Tech, as his son was getting his license. He kept it to 255,000 miles.

Only work on it was the new tranny and a clutch.

They saw it on the road years late, still as someone's daily driver.

Popular color in 1987. I had a 1987 Scirocco 16V in that color. Just sold it three days ago. So I could buy a 1981 Scirocco, mind you.

Will be interesting to see what the Sportwagen looks like in Tornado Red, now that I have a Salsa Red car.

Hmmmmmm....

Hi. I have pics of 2011 Salsa Red, and 2011 tornado red JSW TDI.
I'd like to post them into this thread, but it says i can not post attachments.

Anyone know how to post pictures into this thread?
I read the FAQ but couldn't figure it out.

I have had Tornado red on several Audis. I was disappointed that my 2010 Jetta was unavailable in Tornado red...only Salsa red.

The salsa red is darker. The tornado red glows red even in dimmer dusk hour light.

I would always get tornado red over the salsa red. So when VW announced that tornado red was replacing the salsa red I was pleased...even though I had already purchase a car.
