Was it just lacking clamp force? 650lb is a LOT, like Corvette power and from a V8 that's damn near triple in displacement. How did that happen?
650 ft/lb is very easy to get from any tiny-turbo tdi with proper fuel system hardware
when you can lug it into 30lbs of boost at 1500 rpm, well... torque breaks parts, hp does work

Exactly, I had a DC Stage 3 with SMF that started slipping in 10k miles. Fortunately my synchros went out at the same time so it was a one-time job. That clutch though was rated for some 528lb-ft at the crank. My 1752vrk was not being limited at that time so was getting 31psi (36psi spikes) by 1800-1900rpm...it was being tortured. FWIW, on the dyno it made 330lb-ft at the wheels so nowhere near the clutch's limit.
Keep the torque peak higher in the rev range if you want things to stay together. I believe my peak torque is now 2500rpm, but plenty lively below that.
