2011 Golf TDI 6 speed 5 door.
Where can I buy a service manual for this model year. If the dealer is the only option what format and price am I looking at.

Bentley Publishing makes (sells) the best manuals for VW products. Unfortunately, they do not yet have a manual for the 2010 - 2011 Golf TDIs. I would suggest that you email them and ask when these manuals will be available. Good Luck.

Ok, I need a clarification from you guys. Why would you recommend an aftermarket manual instead of the manufacturers year and model specific manual? I always buy the manufacturers manual be it for my KTM Adventure, Kawasaki dirt bike, Yamaha Outboard or even my old F250 and have always found them way superior to the aftermarket stuff.

Also what is a good online source for parts? For example I tried to find the part number and cost of an HPFP for an 2010 wagon and all the google sites I found did not list it.

1) The Bentley manual is the factory manual. Bentley publishers prints all of VW's manuals. VAG (Volkswagen Auto Group) includes VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat, Bentley, Bugatti, and Lamborghini (and maybe some others I forgot).

2) On line parts: Try a search, there are many threads about this, but here are a few: (in no particular order)

It seems you are correct, the eBahn is available there. But I noticed they do not have it for 2010+ sportwagens. That seems odd...how long does it take to come out? There does not seem to be an eBahn license available for your car either.

For parts, I already checked those with no luck and a few better ones. For example can you find the part number and price for a HPFP for your 2009 JSW? Or even a piston. If you can, please provide a link. :D

I'm worried about this because I'm planning on buying a 2012 JSW but I rack up a lot of miles and will be out of warranty quickly. I have historically done ALL my own maintenance. For example I just put a new piston in my klx dirt bike. Just go to the Kawasaki website and look up the part numbers you need...easy peasy. Then shop for price.

There is an eBahn and a printed manual for my '09 sportwagen (I have them), but there is not yet an "official" one for 2010+ models. I would suggest emailing Bentley publishing and asking when one will be available. However, the 2009 one will be almost exactly the same for newer sportwagens. There have been no mechanical changes except for the front bumper/grill and the dashboard. It is still a Mk5 chassis with some mk6 control modules.

As for HPFP part numbers. They are posted here somewhere. We have several members here with access to ETKA (the VW dealer's parts database) and prices and probably p/n are posted here somewhere. Read some of the long threads about HPFP failures and you will probably find it. I'm not certain where it is.

I think you are missing my point! Where can you go to look up ALL the parts for your car or the one I plan to buy?

I was looking through a Bently CD for 09 and it grossly ommitted alot of info for common rail. It had design and theory info, but really no "real world repair info". ie diagnosis steps for specific trouble codes. It had these steps for 06 but was lacking for the common rail. NO wiring schematics either. (unless I was just overlooking this stuff).

No such thing, but if you find one post up the link here so I can use it!

www.vagcat.com is kind of like that but its not complete.

Thanks for the input Cool, it specifically said no eBahn license available and I figured that meant it was not completely covered.

How do you work on these things without a reference :D

Thanks, nice link.

Oh Boy ..... this is going to be an adventure. Gotta go to a forum to get a part number, lol.

Do none of you think it is crazy that it is not easy to get this information? What manufacturer does not provide listings for spare parts? Well besides vw :D

You are correct. I was quite disappointed in the eBahn CD for a variety of reasons (including the ones you mentioned). There is much that is lacking. There is also some info lacking in the paper manual, but it is better (it does have wiring diagrams, for example). Neither version is perfect, but if I were going to buy only one it would be the paper version for sure.

I just bought an '11 Golf TDI. No manuals (and only 1 fob..waaah).

So I found this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-2011-VW-Volkswagen-Golf-Owners-Manual-Case-/230931605072#vi-content

Is that the same? I don't see any mention of TDI, but do they lump the gas/diesel models together?

pardon my noobiness,

Kurt
That is the owner's manual package that came with the car when it was new. If these are not in your glove compartment, the previous owner must have kept (or lost) them. There is no separate version for the TDI, every Golf/Jetta/Beetle comes with the same owner's manuals.

However, these are not service manuals. This thread is about service manuals for newer VWs. Owner's manuals come with the car but service manuals must be purchased (if they are available at all). There are no "official" service manuals for 2011 and newer VWs because Bentley has (somehow) lost the contract to produce and sell service manuals.
