Radio shuts off in a few min

UPDATE: radio is dead, bunch of codes, see last post

The radio on my 2015 Golf started to shut off in about 2-3 min when the ignition is off. Would not turn on with the press of a button unless ignition is on again. Any suggestions? On the other car it works just fine, turns on with the press of a button after the engine is off and lasts about 30 min.

not sure what it was but in about 3 hrs when I was leaving work there was a warning " Low Battery turn off infotainment" even though the radio was off for all of that time, at least that was what I thought, the battery is new about a couple month old. Car started with barely any juice to get it going

i havent , like i said the battery is new, had no problems whatsoever starting in the morning, drove to work everything worked fine, at noon was sitting in the car, turned on the radio and it shut off in 2-3 min by itself, would not turn on unless i turned the ignition on

Did you check for fault codes in the infotainment system? Or in the electrics? I'll bet there are some low voltage related codes stored

How does one do that?

the radio was working fine for a while with no issues, but now it wont turn on at all. Also the compass does not work either. Checked all of the fuses under the steering wheel all good, is there any fuses on the radio itself? or any idea what might be wrong this time?

So my infotainment appears to be dead at this point. The screen is black, nothing is accessible, nothing works, compass is off, But looks like the head unit in the glove box is working, I tried it on another car and it functions fine ( except component protection message). There is no CEL, car drives fine, but theres bunch of interesting codes in the VCDS scan. Could this be the bad screen? or something else? I tried a different working head unit on this car and it doesn't work either. Please, chime in.

Are you sure your alternator and/or battery is good? While these 2015 units are known to be flaky, I’d just want to make sure your car is providing clean power.

yes, Ill take the screen, pmd you The glove box unit is good, I put it in another car and it works just fine. I replaced the battery like 3 month ago with the new one. What happened prior to the radio going bad was that it would shut off after like 3 min, would not turn on until i switched the ignition on, one time I got a message on the dash that my battery was low " please shut off infotainment", even though it was off ( or at least I thought it was). This was with the new battery. Now it would not turn on at all, rear view camera does not work, compass, etc and bunch of codes in the VCDS

ok, i hoped this was the screen, i put working screen from my other car and nothing. So from what i can see theres no power going to infotainment, both the screen and the head unit are good. I checked all of the fuses and found none bad. Any ideas what else i should check?

Amp? Wiring harness? Are you sure power is actually getting there?

Those are the only two things left you haven’t isolated.

Sounds like you might need to pull apart your dash and start tracing wires. But a good start would just checking for power to the glovebox unit.
