What is the Easiest way to add an input plug for the radio?

This is for a MKIV stereo. IMBM but I doubt much has changed in cassette players since the mid '90s.
Did the MKIII single DIN units have the option of controlling a factory CD changer? If so then there is aux input already in the head units chassis. Then just get some RCA plugs from RS and install them in place of the factory VW plug.

Yes, Mk3 radios have an input for the trunk mounted CD player. You can hook up something like this:

I have something like that. It might be exactly that one, I can't remember since it's been stuffed in my dash for so many years.

What if I have a trunk mounted CD changer and don't want to sacrifice it for an mp3 player input? I rarely use the cassette player (other than for the adapter), can I somehow wire a more permanent fix via cassette input?
