Update to post #1 is added.
A new "non-judged" class has been created for those that don't want to 'compete' for points, but still wish to be considered for the People's Choice voting, and the longevity award.

I Resemble That Remark

Are the covers hiding torn and worn factory surfaces?
In "stock" the point deduction may be less than the lost points for torn seats that will remain undetected. If the seats are in good condition, then remove the covers and install them after the show to reduce the deduction.
But, choose "modified" class instead of "stock" and the covers, if the judge likes them, could gain points, Then again, if the covers look tacky might cost points in that class too.
You choose the metric by which you will be judged.
And you'll declare that one choice upon entry so consider in which of the three judged classes you think your vehicle would do best.
Jonathan: my fame in the TDI Club IS my "tackyness!"

Doesn't need to be.
CDI, TDI, TID, SDI, naturally aspirated, turbo,
Requirements for consideration for this award:
Full (not 'guest') Fest '11 registration number, entry into the show (non-judged is OK), diesel powered, odometer, VIN.

Oh crap! That's '11 fest!
I've had '12 on my mind as the '12 models are out now and I've had to change the calculation on the spredsheets to adjust for that.

5-door, 5-speed Golf GLS replaced BeetleGo.
I enter the show-n-shine because it's a great way to justify cleaning the car really, really, REALLY well. Bringing the car up to spec. as I call it.

The question is whether the dent king will be able to get to it before the event!

Can anyone post info regarding car wash locations? The vast majority of "prep" I did is not undone after being on the road for 2500 miles. ;) Some of us will need a little touch up after arrival.

Any way to judge... character?

The original owner of my Golf was my Grandfather, who drove it with a very serious heart condition at 92 years old. Occasionally he would pass out suddenly at the wheel as he lost blood pressure. Yes, we did everything we could to try and stop him from driving.

At approx 60mph he drove off a highway road fully unconscious, later waking up to find that the "road" had gotten extremely bumpy and the cruise control was still on... he was driving through an open field at 60mph. I happen to think that my car (not me) deserves an award for its incredible service!

I hope that there is a points section for "battle scars"... :D

There is a section in the score sheet for 'documentation'. Newspaper clippings of the accident in which a cow was run down, or an unexplained crop circle was discovered, weren't in my thoughts when that segment was developed, but I suppose such could be considered 'documentation' and may offset some point deductions for a less than perfect exterior appearance.

The judges will be using their own personal ranking for point award or detraction. I can't speak for what their preferences are as I haven't met them yet.

I found this place via Google:
Nicholasville Car Wash LLC
218 Blueberry Lane, Nicholasville, KY 40356

It's 7.5 miles south of the Fest and seems to be the only DIY car wash nearby. There are lots of Shell stations with drive-through sandpaper scrubbers but I won't use those.

I'm planning on take a boat load of soda with and handing it out during the car show. I'll have the red Liberty (CRD) and I'll also be doing a drawing for some gift certificates for the web site so be sure to stop by and get a drink and register.:D

Be sure to clear your give-away promotion ideas with the organizers before hand.

I'll note that two "Dirtiest car" winners now live in the same household, and one previous one was my room mate

I must say, I was a little suprised that my Golf was the highest mileage car there... as there are many more across the land boasting much higher numbers. I EXPECT to be challenged next year.
