Does anyone know the VAG-COM channel and codes to disable the seatbelt chime on a 2005 Passat? Did a search on vortex and here and found nothing. Thanks!

Motorcitytdi, I also have 2005 Passat. I just disabled the seatbelt chime yesterday. Fire up vag-com, hit (select), next page (17-instruments), next page (recode 07). Write down your existing code in case you have to go back to it, my code was 15235. The seatbelt chime code value is 02, subtract 02 from the first two digits 15=13, so new code for mine is 13235. I hope I explained the procedure clearly, if you need more help let me know. Mike.

Hey... I'm a Vag newbie too

Just started my document.., only got a couple things in there.

I figured, a simple list and short description would be helpfull for others. If anyone has anything for me to add, just send it along.

I'll try to section it by model of vehicle.

Thank you emka
Does this only affect the seat belt chime?
How did you figure this out?

Yes I believe it is just the seatbelt, have'nt noticed anything else. I got it off Ross-tech site, under MkIV info. I thought the 02 value for the seatbelt chime for the MkIV might be the same for the Passat so I tried it and it worked. I also got all the doors (4) to unlock when you turn ignition off and take out key. If anyone needs that let me know.

You have 2 options: cancel the auto lock or have th edoors unlock when you remove the key.
Lock/Unlock Horn/Flash:

[Select]
[46 - Cent. Conv.] (35 - Cent. Locking for manual window cars)
[Adaptation - 10]
Channel (03..08)
Adaptation Value (1 = on, 0 = off)
[Save]

Channel 03 Auto Lock set to 0 to cancel auto lock
Channel 04 Auto Unlock Set to 1 to unlock by removing key from ignition
Channel 05 Unlock, horn sounds
Channel 06 Lock, horn sounds
Channel 07 Unlock, turn signals flash
Channel 08 Lock, turn signals flash

Not sure about the NB, but changing to 24 hour setup will stop the chime when leaving your headlights on.

It also changes your odo to display kms instead of miles.(Seeing as though your from the USA)

Fantastic! I was going to try the codes for the A4 and see if they work for the B5 but didn't have the guts. Thanks for boldly going where I was too chicken to go.

Changing the ECU setting to "UK" should resolve the annoying door chime when it's open. I've done this my car as well as my wifes and the chime for leaving our headlights on still works.

The "UK" setting will show a 24-hour clock and still display miles and not kilometers.

[17 - Instruments]
[Recode - 07]
Write down the existing coding for future reference.
Enter 5-digit code from below
[Do It!]
Look at the first two digits in the coding. Add the values for the options together to get the correct coding.
00 - No available equipment
+01 - Brakepad wear sensor warning active
+02 - Seatbelt warning active
+04 - Washer fluid level warning active
Look at the third digit in the coding (Market version):
1 - "EU" 24 hour clock (may result in odometer in km in 2002+ clusters)
2 - "USA" 12 hour clock
3 - "Canada" 12 hour clock (may result in odometer in km in 2002+ clusters)
"The third digit in the code is the country code. The codes are:
4 - "UK" 24 hour clock (should result in odometer in miles)
5 - Japan
6 - Saudi Arabia
7 - Australia

My bad..., I meant the door chime

00 - No available equipment
+01 - Brakepad wear sensor warning active
+02 - Seatbelt warning active
+04 - Washer fluid level warning active
For example, if I have 15331,
and I subtract 2 from the 15 so it read 13xxx
the seatbelt chime would be disabled

Thats' what worked for me. I tried to add it (17xxx),
and it wouldnt accept it.

Why would it be listed as
+01
+02
etc...

The code is the sum of the various "on" items. I suspect there is something that corresponds to 8 on your listing.

1 + 2 + 4 + 8 = 15 = all of the four options "on".
1 + 4 + 8 = 13 = all but option representing "2" is on.

Therefore, to turn off an attribute, subtract it. Base 2 addition to get more data in a small code.

Been trying to silence the bell in my '03 Golf, and I switched from 07432 to 05432 and all I lost was the 'little man wearing his seatbelt' symbol in the cluster. Still get the tone. Suggestions?

Part number?

Sure that this chime has nothing to do with sth. else?

Try to change the country coding back to US or Europe...

Sorry, but part# of what?
No, I'm sure it's the seatbelt chime, because the tone stops when I fasten the belt. Changing the code just removes the red seatbelt icon from the cluster.

Gosh, no idea. Where do I find that? It's the factory cluster that came with the car (US '03 Golf.)

You find the part number in the "VAG Number" field when you access the cluster. There are lots of different clusters used in these cars.

This forum is great and have learned a great deal from all of the threads. Hopefully some one can offer their opions to validate what I have learned so far.

I have a TDI passat 2005 2.0 L PD with 4500 miles. I would like to shut off the bongs etc but do not know where can I purchase a vag com at a decent price. Plz supply link etc. Also, does anyone have an ECU chip recommendations to improve mileage? I drive many interstate miles and do not need the performance just more mpg. Just finished a 500 mile and averaged 36-37mpg's. Is this normal or will it improve? I also added Militec-1 synthetic additive without teflon and feel it helped the mileage. Any comments?

Lastly filters...I found the CAT filter for $115.00 is this worth the investment to filter down to the 2 micron particle size? Oil filters, which is the best value. I found some Mann filters, add your comments.

Lastly, air filter. N&K boasts the 1 million mile filter, self cleaner needed. While lub specialists promote there foam self cleaner model, K&N not that great. Who has the best knowledge or do I just throw in a disposable at $10.00 and not worry.

You have revived a very old thread Turbospool?

I did my Seat Belt Chime/Reminder a few months ago and my coding changed from 470B00 to 470900.

My VCDS Tweaks

Any Long Coding changes you make are generally saved to the \Ross-Tech\VCDS\Debug\CodingLog.txt file as a backup.
