Is there any ways to measure the output fuel pressure after the tandem pump. On common rail engine there imperatively is a fuel rail pressure sensor, fuel rail solenoid and quantity control valve that can all be monitored easily, but what about PD engine ? Tried on vcds can't see anything for this. Is tandem pump deliver a steady pressure?
Best regards.

Nothing in VCDS but there is a port to install a fitting and gauge. The thread is M12X1.5 with a flat washer seal or a banjo fitting.

That's strange that no pressure sensor was though of. So if tandem pump is not providing enough pressure, nothing is to report on ecu? Where is that port by the way? I think it's on engine block but not sure where to look for it.

Short answer expect 15 psi @ idle & over 51 psi above 1500 RPM. Above 2000 RPM I saw close to 100 psi. NEVER EVER DEAD HEAD PUMP WITH TEST GAUGE ALWAYS TEST @ PORT!!!

A very special thank you to the member who took the time to help myself and others out!

A great article written on testing BEW fuel system:

The tandem pump test port is circled in red:

Required 12mm x 1.5 banjo fitting:

The fuel hoses are Metric i.d. but 5/16 will work:

If fuel pressure/flow is too low, you will lose power, usually get a shudder or vibration from uneven power. Sometimes all you notice would be the low power.

Unless the power flow is so uneven that you get misfires (not common), or boost issues, you get no CEL.

Thank you very much for this information, I wish I had this information before.
I mistakenly took out the wrong nut, this below the measurement port.

Should this nut be precise returned in place? Should I calibrate a tandem pump?
