Keep in mind that the Beetle is a Golf chassis car (even the gimped and stretched Jetta is still PQ35 platform, just like the Mk5/6 Jetta/Rabbit and Golf), so there was likely less certification required to use the CJAA as-is in it, rather than adapt the CKRA to a non-AdBlue application.
Wait for the Mk7 Golf-based cars, to get something like the CKRA. (It'll be a different code, and an altogether different engine family, though.)
