I just gave in to the mod demons and bought this version of the KKL serial cable... if it works, it'll add another data point to known compatible cables. Frankly, I liked the way it looked better, and didn't have to pay $2 extra for shipping from Hong Kong.
I just bought the same cable. I couldn't get the Rosstech ISO-COM to work with the vds-pro software in MS-DOS. I haven't tried the new cable yet, but I'm hoping that it will work. Have you had any luck with the ebay cable?

I just got the cable last night - it's out in the car now, and I'll let you know how it works after I go fool with it at lunch.

Awesome! I can't wait to know if it's going to work... I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Drumroll.... ;)

it worked just fine! :D

I've got the -C CCM module in the Passat, and it was easy as pie. Windows now go up and down with the remote - sweeet. Just in time for winter. :p

Now I need to go back and read what, if anything, this is supposed to do to the sunroof.

And on to play with the Beetle...

Since I'd heard of some cables failing to work with VAG-COM after using VDS-Pro, I booted windows back up to check - and the new cable still works with VAG-COM.

I purchased this cable also. I can't use my laptop because it has no serial port (I use a HEX-USB).

I also purchased a 25 foot 9p serial extension cable, ran it through my bedroom window where my desktop is (with an old DOS Hard drive as the primary for the moment), and down to the cars, two -C 03 TDIs. It worked perfectly on both vehicles.

Just thought I'd share this for those who may want to try the long distance approach and might be worried about commo issues. There are none that I could tell. I used Compu_85s' .cfg file, Thanks Compu!

Cracked the code for 2-door Golfs & NBs!

My coding on a 2002 NB is:

04283 / 1
04289 / 255
08628 / 255
12724 / 255

Soooo........... Adding 4 is not going to work and I am not even sure if those are the correct addresses.
Woot!

For all of us with Beetles or 2-door Golfs, the correct coding on a 1C0 959 799 F or -G CCM is:

Addr. / Old / New
04361 / 202 / 002
04362 / 202 / 002
04363 / 202 / 002

I just got done changing the coding on my Beetle with the -G CCM.

To give credit where it's due, here is where I found out that it works on the -F. This fella Svenni figured it out for the 2-door R32 crowd.

Happy window opening/closing... my wife thinks I'm nuts.

Cheers!

Unfortunately, I have a right hand drive 2 door R32 which has a 1C0 959 799 B controller which is different coding again I believe!
So, Nate, you can open and close with the remote, but do you have to hold the button down to do it, or is it one-touch?

Congratulations on your success however.

Many thanks for this, it works a treat.

I've done two cars:

2002 UK RHD 2 Door Golf IV GTI
CCM Module 1C0 959 799B
04361 10 >> 2
04362 10 >> 2
04363 10 >> 2

2003 UK RHD 4 Door Leon Cupra-R
CCM Module 1C0 959 799F
04361 10 >> 2
04362 10 >> 2
04363 10 >> 2

Windows open and close by holding remote button - I'm guessing there is no way to make it one touch lock + close, is this correct?

I emailed the makers of the KVW100 and got a response on the wagon issue:

"yes easy to fix although this is not a big problem.
i have contact usa distributor. and when they send us the orginal data from wagon
we will fix it soon.
regards
ji"

So hopefully they will have something for us soon.

You are correct - you've got to hold the button down, just like using the key in the lock. IF you want one (or two/three) touch programming, get an alientech - but you can't stop the windows mid-travel with that.

If that bugs you, to avoid having to stand next to the car holding down the button, you could extend the CCM antenna as has been discussed elsewhere to extend the range of the remotes.

Nate,

Thanks for the reply - I'l look into the idea of extending the antenna.

This worked for my sisters 20002 NB TDI! Thanks! You need to press and hold to rollup / rolldown the windows.

Well, I had a good run until I tried meganuke's car. Has anyone had luck programing a 2003 Jetta Wagon TDI? It has the 1C0 959 799C CCM.

The strange part is that I wasn't even able to get to the CCM module in VDS-pro. I opened the CCM w/ vag-com (windows 98) before starting the process to check the module version and I was able to see it. I then tried to open the module w/ VDS-pro (DOS) and it wasn't able to connect. After that I went back into vag-com and I couldn't open the CCM. I can't imagine anything happened to the CCM because I wasn't even able to see it within vds-pro, but I have no idea why you can't see it anymore in Vag-Com. We tried turning off and on the car a couple times and still no luck... Good thing is the windows / door locks still work! I was able to get to other modules while in VDS-pro.

OK, there's still hope for his CCM. Let's hope this works!

Many CCMs used in Passat/Golf/Jetta/Beetle models seem to have a firmware bug which occasionally causes them to stop responding to all attempts to communicate with a diagnostic tool. The solution is to reboot the module, which is most easily done by disconnecting the vehicle's battery for several minutes. On older ones like yours, you might need to de-SAFE the radio afterwards, so have the radio security code handy first. Alternatively, you can diconnect the CCM from the vehciles hanress for a few minutes, or you can pull all the relevant fuses (check wiring diagrams to identify the correct ones for your specific car).

Ditto... would probably be easier to pull a batt cable - if you have your radio code. (Sometimes you need it, sometimes not)

If the CCM stops responding, pull fuse 14 and plug it back in. That's the easiest way.

1999 New Beetle GL 2.0 -- CCM 1J0 959 799AJ

1999 New Beetle GL 2.0 -- CCM 1J0 959 799AJ

Addr. / Old / New

04289 / 218 / 002
08628 / 242 / 246

Not exactly sure why the old numbers for 04283 and 04289 were different than the same CCM in my 2000 GTI, but the change worked. Both windows rolldown / rollup with the remote keyfob.

So I take it that removing the fuse to the CCM allowed you to eventually communicate with it.

We haven't tried it on my car yet. I've got a killer cold, so I'm in self-imposed quarantine. I'll try to pull the fuse tomorrow and I'll hook up with dieselgti at work next week.

Partial success... :D

Windows & sunroof close with the fob and windows open with the fob :D but the windows do not close automagically with the fob. :(

BTW What is address 04363 for? Rear hatch? I don't see any difference in the function of the hatch and like I said the windows do not close when closing via fob unless you hold down the close button.
