I've seen some posts about retrofitting a newer MIB2 head unit to the older cars like a MK6 Golf. Concrete info is a little sparse though.
From what I understand if I were to purchase a used MIB2 unit, prefer one with NAV, it will have "component protection" which needs to be fixed by the dealer?
Aside from the actual head unit and wiring, what else is needed? Do I need the matching amp? Can the other coding be done via VCDS or is it a dealer only thing?
Thanks
