Hi All,

I'm new here on this forum.

I'm owner of a Q5 2.0 Tdi (year 2010) 80000 kms & since around 5000 Kms i'm hearing a strange sound coming from the HPFP. I did some search on web & I found that those HPFP Bosch CP4 pumps are having issues & will cause damage to injectors.
I'm posting here a link to a video that I made for the pump in order to hear that sound.
- I would like to know if this sound is normal or its a sign of damaged HPFP ?
- I would like also to know if is possible to open & inspect the Cam follower of the pump without altering its setting ?

here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5L3Yuex4HIY

Waiting for your comments

Thanks in advance

Hi There,
I was wondering if you got to the bottom of that problem ?
I have the exact same sound of on A3 2011 (170). Just dropped it to a diesel specialist who checked the fuel filter and removed the head of the pump, they didn't find any pieces of metal (the pump has been inspected with a microscope) so the pump doesn't seem to be contaminated neither destroying itself. They unplugged the cable on the head and notice the noise was gone, so they tried to fit a new head and the noise was there so they were confused and didn't really have an explanation for the noise, they told I could replace the pump if I wanted but they couldn't guarantee that would fix the problem. I also don't have any of symptoms such loss of power, struggle to start... So I start thinking maybe it is just like that.
