Glow Plug Indicator is Flashing

I own a 2002 VW Jetta TDI. My GPI is flashing and can't figure it out. I scanned it for trouble codes and it shows none. The temp. outside is around 90 and I have checked the GP and checked and cleaned the connectors. I have noticed that pre-fire on my glow plugs is a split second(like a half second). I have checked and replaced my brake light bulbs. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Does your brake light switch work? Brake lights illuminate? Most common cause of your problem.

Brake light switch is on recall. Or buy is for ~$10, and do it yourself.
