Why do I need to allow Fuelly cookies to post?

Somewhere between a question and a gripe... are Fuelly and TDIClub affiliated/related/associated...? It's my policy to deny third-party cookies, and this is so far the only site I visit where that's been a problem.

More likely it's the fuelly stats people stick in their signatures all the time...

Until I allowed cookies from Fuelly, any time I'd post a message or reply, it got erased and I got a message "your post is too short; please lengthen it by at least 5 characters". TDIClub cookies had been allowed the whole time. Allowed Fuelly's cookies and that fixed the problem, but why?
