Hello Mates,
2005 TDI Passat Sedan. No chipping or mods, still chained, 73K
I am currently in limp mode due to throwing several codes. I borrowed a scan tool and this is what came up.
P0322
P2801
P0001
P0722
I have been doing general maintenance on the car. The only possibility i can think of is that when I changed the air filter I forgot to put the small vacuum hose on the air box before I took it for a drive:confused:. The battery was out for a couple of days until I got the new one installed.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

P0322 = VAG 16706 - Engine Speed Sensor No Signal.
P0722 = VAG 17106 - Transmission Output RPM Sender No Signal.

P0001 and P2801 do not appear to be BHW related as they are not on the fault code list in Bentley.

Did you disturb anything under the cowl when you changed the battery?

Why not first check system voltage for approx 14+-, then clear all codes and see what comes back. If your alt can't maintain 14 at idle with new battery(hopefully of proper size and quality), then charging system needs attention. When you buy a battery, it isn't fully charged and you may need to do that first.

Thanks for the input.
I will put the new battery on the battery tender. The new battery is the larger Interstate 80 ah. I also installed the new hold down strap/bracket for that battery.
I didn't disturb anything that i know of when changing the battery. I did leave the small vacuum hose off the air box after changing the air filter (back on now).
I want to avoid taking it to the dealer if possible.
With the codes cleared it was still in limp mode and the service engine light came back on after a few miles of driving.
I will need to borrow a scan tool again.
Thank You Guys!

Yes, thank you, I did check the link. Looks like San Jose is the closest. About a 1.5 hour drive.

Problem solved. I took the air intake off again and found a very small vacuum line disconnected below the turbo intake hose. I found a person locally with a vagcom, cleared the codes and now it runs perfectly.

Wouldn't be a bad idea for you to purchase your own vag-com.
