With your mods you have 40 hp left on the table some where. Or its a real conserative dyno. The rc5 car should have been higher too. You can get 180hp on pd 150 injectors and a vnt 17. I would love to see your graph as I am thinking about getting the same turbo.

First run was with Kerma Q-Loader tune. Second run was back to stock. Other than the Q-Loader I have no other performance mods other than a mufflerectomy, if you consider that a performance mod  .

Considering many peoples reaction to their pulls, I would venture to say that it was a conservative. Not inaccurate, just conservative ;).

Peter, I don't know if they were aware of it. and honestly, since i have never dyno'd a car before, I didn't know it was a consideration... so likely they didn't.

Not for an 02A in an A3/B4 because the smaller diameter wheels make the overall gearing the same as an A4/02J.

Not on this kind of dyno. A Dynojet MAYBE, but I just did 185 whp on a Mustang dyno, which is an eddy-current dyno like the DynoDynamics

While I wasn't at the dyno myself, I was provided with some information that can help serve as a reference point.

A 2004 1.8t Passat that has 170HP stock + 20hp in tunes (ie 190hp) got 144hp on the dyno. That may help you guys with the numbers.

Cool! My wife has the same thing, with a RC tune on it! :D

Mustang dynos are 8-15% higher than Dyno Dynamics. We had both an AWD Mustang and AWD Dyno Dynamics and were able to compare numbers on both dynos using the same vehicles.

While 185 is a great pull, at the show you would probably have seen 150-160.

To add to the references on power numbers, what I've personally owned:
03 Jetta 1.8T APR software 162 hp
99 MK3 VR6 Turbo 214 hp
92 Jetta VR6 swap 140 hp

Most stock 1.8t's are in the 125 range and most VR6 are in the 130-140 range.

Bottom line:
Don't be disappointed with your numbers especially when you get double the mpg of the gassers. :D

Was there a stock car on the dyno on Saturday? That would provide a great reference point.

There were a couple people in the 85-100 range that I remember and several in the 120's. I'll let the owners post their exact numbers if they want.

We dyno'd a stock AHU around 80 and with a chip around 100 before we swapped it.

so we can add about 23% to our printed numbers to get what our engine is putting out?

that makes mine 146.27/265.2

Does that sound right with my mods?

Thats why I put the 1.8T Passat wagon on the roller, they are usually very consistant. I drove the car the night before, and no doubt it is 200hp range. It spun 144hp. It was an automatic so this can cause some additional losses too. oem=170hp

Heartbreak Dyno!

Yeah buddy you got it wrong. Dynojet is the one that reads high. Last tune (RC4+) on my car on a Dynodynamics read 182/310. I didn't lose 30+ hp with my race tune. Nice try tho

Its all opinions. That article is 5 years old. I'm sure some things including software have changed since then on a lot of dynos.

74vwsb works at Fast Enough and that dyno. I have seen cars run on it for years and it produce low numbers.

You are correct. Dynojet is much higher. Not trying to start a discussion about dynos that's been covered over and over. I am just stating the facts of what I have seen. Until this weekend I had never seen a diesel vw over 160 whp on a Dyno Dynamics dyno. If yours makes 185 whp, that's great. I wish you had been here to dyno it....you could have taken home the sweet TOP HP trophy. ;)

I would have loved to be there. I had planned on it, but things came up with school. Maybe next year where ever it is.

Everyone was floored by my 334 ft-bs this weekend :D

I bet they were. They don't expect that from a 1.9L. And I bet you're pretty disappointed when you drive a car with 'normal' torque: I always wonder where the power went.

And of my car on the rollers.
