Just purchased 2012 JSW TDI w/6spd at the beginning of Oct 2012. The clutch has always seemed soft but now the car has 5500 miles and I find it difficult to sense when the clutch has disengaged. I find that I need to push the clutch to the floor every time I shift just to be sure that I don't grind gears.

Called the dealer who said the clutch is not adjustable. I've driven cars with different clutches over the years and this one is by far the softest.

Is this normal for VW JSW?

I would have no way to know if your clutch is "normal" or not without driving your car. However, VW does use hydraulic clutches (not a clutch cable). This does change the 'feel' a bit. The clutch uses the brake fluid system. Therefore, bleeding the brakes might help if the problem is air in the system. Do your brakes feel firm?

Have Fun!

yeah, "normal" is a relative term. Other vehicles I have driven have a distinct point were the clutch disengagement is felt. Maybe the "softness" is a characteristic of this system.

Breaks are fine.

thx
