Today a warning indicator on my dash went off right below the high beam indicator. It's cicle and there are 2 arches both on the right and left of the circle. I know I will need a brake job soon but I am not sure if that is what this warning indicator is for, anyone know?

There are just too many to list....
Sounds like the brake pad wear sensor. You have some time, maybe 5000k miles at most. You'll likely need rotors anyway, so go ahead and get your parts and keep driving the car until they come in.

I strongly recommend OE type brands, such as Ate, Brembo, Jurid, Pagid, TRW, etc.

Autozone brakes for Volkswagens are very poor quality!

Yeah, I was going to milk the brakes as long as I could......I was going to go with a set of cross drilled slotted rotors I forget the brand. And a 2 sets of mintex pads with oem rotors for the rear. All 4 rotors are pretty chewed up I guess this repair is going to take priority over my timing belt right now @ 64k.
