Six hours from home and three hours... Friday night, on our way to San Diego from north of San Francisco, we were t-boned coming out of a parking lot. Six hours from home and three hours from our destination.

We were planning on turning left out of the parking lot, and a semi was wanting to turn right into our parking lot, but was waiting for us to clear the entrance so he could swing wide. A Chevy Tahoe decided to pass the semi in the center right/left turn only lane (yes, the one solid yellow/one dotted yellow lane) and came flying into our side as we pulled our nose out in past the semi.

We're ok. A little bruised. Max? He's a sad car.

^ We had a full car - two friends with us, as well as a full back AND a full 2100 Thule Atlantis on top ^

Somehow we managed to:
- reach a friend who was only 25 min south, who could drive back to help us
- drive to Bakersfield in his car to get a rental car
- convince Avis at the Bakersfield airport to stay open until we could get there
- find a AAA tow that would take Max as far as we could get just under 100 miles
- find a hotel room in Casaic on Friday night of a 3-day weekend
- get a second tow on Saturday am to Garden Grove
- have a friend who's step-dad is in charge of parts at VW of Garden Grove

So Max is at VW of Garden Grove. They'll start looking him over tomorrow. We're actually down here for another week for our 15th anniversary, so I'm not getting my hopes up but it's *slightly* possible that they could have our poor, sweet Max fixed by the 14th when we have to drive home.

Good times? We all walked away and the driver didn't run. He has insurance and gave us his information.
